Frequently Asked Questions

Thanks to our know-how you don’t have to know much about our industry and how things work. But here’s a few pieces of information you may want or need to get going.
Where do I start?

If you have a document to translate or edit, or if you have a piece of text to be written, the best idea is to send us an email. Just let us know:

  • What text you want translated?
  • How long is it?
  • When do you need it
  • Is there anything else?
  • We’ll get back to you with some questions or a quote and proposed deadline. That’s it. You can leave the rest to us.

What’s the best way to get in touch?

The best way to get in touch with us is to send us an email. We’re usually quick to reply. But if you’re question is urgent and we don’t reply within a reasonable time, feel free to give us a call.

What file formats do you work with?

We work with virtually any file format, e.g. .docx, .xlsx, .pptx, .html, .idml, to name just some examples. If your file format is not listed, email us anyway and we’ll let you know what we can do. And rest assured, the document that you receive back will look exactly like the one you sent us. Unless agreed otherwise, obviously.

What’s the best way to get a quote?

The best way to get a quote is to send us an email with the document(s) that you want translated, as well as any additional requirements, expected delivery dates and languages you need. That’s it. Leave the rest to us. If we have questions, we’ll be in touch.

What if I need translation into other languages?

We have a network of trusted translators and editors who supply other languages, like German, French, Italian, Spanish, Swedish, Chinese, to name just some. So if you need other languages, let us know. We’ll be happy to help.

What if I need legal, financial, or medical translation?

We’ll be happy take care of it and find a suitable professional who specialises in these fields. You can expect the same great quality we always deliver but this time we’ll be managing and checking the work of one of our suppliers.

How long does it take to get a translation done?

A lot depends on the subject matter. But it’s safe to assume a translator can deliver about 2000 words per day. But remember that translated text also requires editing (6000 words per day), QA and additional processing (preparation, QA). So the best thing to do is contact us and we’ll let you know.

What are CAT tools?

CAT tools, e.g. memoQ or SDL Studio, are neat tools that speed up the translation of text that have a lot of repetitive content (e.g. manuals, amends previous documents, technical documentation). These tools also help maintain consistency, speed up QA and enable translators to reuse previous translations. Most importantly though, if used correctly, they save you money.

Why do I need translation at all?

Studies show that consumers are reluctant to make purchasing decisions if they don’t understand the language of your website. Well translated marketing materials enable you to build strong relations with your audience. They enable you to influence their emotions and way of thinking. In other words, if you do business in a country, your communications materials should be written in that country’s language.

Do I need an editor?

It depends. If you need a simple piece of text for internal use, a high quality translator is able to provide you with a text that’s good enough for internal purposes. Any client-facing materials, though, need to be thoroughly checked before publication and this is where an editor becomes necessary. All our work is edited, unless specified or agreed otherwise.

What if I need translation for yesterday?

Rest assured, our R&D team is just a small step away from inventing a time machine, so we’re expecting to add this service to our portfolio soon. In the mean time, let us know when you need it done, and we’ll be happy to help however we can.

What if I have questions once my project has been completed?

By all means, send them to us. We’re always annoyed by poor customer services, so we’re devoted to ensuring our clients happy. If you have questions, doubts or comments, just let us know.
